Question 1

What is Fjord Chat?

Accepted Answer

Fjord Chat is a private messaging and community platform with zero-server storage, 30x end-to-end encryption, and P2P direct connections. It's a private alternative to Discord, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, WhatsApp, and Telegram.

Question 2

How does the 30x encryption work?

Accepted Answer

Fjord uses a layered encryption approach: 10x SHA-512 hashing + 10x BLAKE3 hashing + 10x AES-GCM encryption. Your messages are encrypted before leaving your device, ensuring zero-server storage of plaintext data.

Question 3

Is Fjord Chat free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Fjord Chat is completely free with no ads, no tracking, and no premium tiers. All features including P2P chat, calls, and communities are available to everyone.

Question 4

What makes Fjord different from Discord?

Accepted Answer

Unlike Discord, Fjord stores zero data on the server. Messages are end-to-peer encrypted and your private keys never leave your device. We can't read your messages even if we wanted to.

Question 5

Can I use Fjord on mobile?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Fjord works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on iOS and Android, and you can download the native Android APK.

Question 6

How does P2P work?

Accepted Answer

Fjord establishes direct peer-to-peer connections using WebRTC DataChannels. Messages and files go directly between users without passing through the server, reducing latency and improving privacy.
